Who knew a Rice Krispie treat could be so rich and decadent? This dessert merges two of our favorite things - Rice Krispie Treats and peanut butter cups. The base is a traditional Rice Krispie treat. But that's where tradition ends. The treats are topped with creamy peanut butter and chunks of mini peanut butter cups. Milk chocolate drizzled on top is the perfect final touch! A bit decadent and really delicious.

Ingredients For peanut butter cup rice krispies treats

  • 6 c
    Rice Krispies
  • 1 bag
    miniature marshmallows, 10 oz
  • 1/4 c
    unsalted butter
  • 2 c
    creamy peanut butter
  • 1 bag
    miniature peanut butter cups, quartered (12 oz, 39 cups)
  • 1 c
    milk chocolate chips

How To Make peanut butter cup rice krispies treats

  • A buttered baking dish.
    Butter a 9×13-inch pan and set aside.
  • Rice Krispies measured into a bowl.
    Measure the cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  • Melting marshmallow in a saucepan.
    Melt the marshmallows and butter together in a medium saucepan over medium heat (or in the microwave for about 3 minutes, but keep watch so the marshmallows don’t puff over the sides of the bowl!).
  • Pouring melted marshmallow over Rice Krispies.
    Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the cereal.
  • Mixing melted marshmallow and Rice Krispies.
    Mix well so the cereal is coated.
  • Pressing Rice Krispies into a baking dish.
    Pour into the prepared pan and use a buttered piece of wax paper to press evenly into pan.
  • Cutting the peanut butter cups into quarters.
    Cut the peanut butter cups into quarters.
  • Melted peanut butter in a bowl.
    In the microwave, melt the peanut butter until thin, about 1 minute.
  • Stirring peanut butter cups into melted peanut butter.
    Gently stir in the quartered peanut butter cups and then pour over the treats.
  • Spreading peanut butter mixture onto Rice Krispie treats.
    Using the back of a spoon, gently spread the peanut butter mixture evenly across the top.
  • Chocolate chips melted in the microwave.
    Again in the microwave, melt the chocolate chips.
  • Drizzling melted chocolate onto treats.
    Using a spoon, drizzle the melted chocolate across the top.
  • Ready to put the tray in the refrigerator.
    Place the pan in the refrigerator to set before cutting and serving.
  • Cover placed on the baking dish.
    Store in an airtight container.
