Passed down from my Grandma Ette, this slice cookie is great with a warm cup of coffee or hot tea. (some people like to dunk them)

prep time
cook time 10 Min
method Bake
yield About 6 dozen

Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 cup melted crisco, (i use butter flavored)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1-1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup pecans, finely chopped

How To Make overnight cookies

  • Step 1
Blend all ingredients in a stand mixer. Note: add the flour gradually. (you can mix all by hand, but it gets really hard once all flour is added)
  • Step 2
Firmly shape into two loaves. Cover with wax paper and plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 3
Thinly slice cookies. Place on parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 10 minutes. (I lowered the temperature 10 degrees in my oven since I felt they were browning too quickly)
