This is a great cookie for Christmas. Orange and spice is one of my favorite combinations. I used a basic biscotti recipe and added many spices, raisins, and orange zest to create this spicy version. Enjoy!

How To Make orange raisin spice biscotti

  • Spice
    Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Gather ingredients.
  • Step 2
In a large bowl, add all of the spices.
  • Step 3
Add 2 3/4 c flour and baking powder. Whisk together.
  • Step 4
In a separate bowl, mix melted butter with sugars.
  • Step 5
Add eggs to the butter mixture. Mix well.
  • Step 6
Add vanilla and 3/4 of the orange zest of an orange.
  • Step 7
Add the nuts and raisins to the egg mixture. Stir well.
  • Step 8
Add 1/2 of the flour mixture to the egg mixture, stir well.
  • Step 9
Add in the remaining flour mixture. Mix well until incorporated.
  • Step 10
Remove dough from the bowl. Use 1 Tbsp of flour to sprinkle on the loaf. Knead the dough a couple of times. Place on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
  • Step 11
With your hands, mold dough into a long loaf about 16 inches long by 3 inches wide by 1 inch deep.
  • Step 12
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  • Step 13
Remove the loaf from the oven. Let cool 30 minutes.
  • Step 14
Slice into 16 pieces about 1" wide.
  • Step 15
Turn over each biscotti. Place back in the oven for another 8 minutes. (Note: Reduce baking time for a softer biscotti. They harden up as they cool.) Flip biscotti over and bake again for 8 minutes.
  • Step 16
    Remove from oven and cool.
  • Step 17
Place white chips in a bowl with shortening. Cook on high for 30 seconds.
  • Step 18
Stir chips. Cook another 30 seconds and stir well. Continue cooking and stirring in 30-second intervals until melted.
  • Step 19
Drizzle white chocolate over the tops of biscotti or smooth it on top of each cookie. Grate remaining orange zest over top of frosted biscotti right away.
  • Step 20
Let the chocolate set up until dry and serve or store in a container in a cool, dry place. You can also freeze them in a Ziploc bag.
