Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar - firmly packed
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

Step 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Step 2In a medium bowl combine flour, soda, salt and orange peel.

Step 3Mix well and set aside.

Step 4In a large bowl blend sugars with electric mixer at medium speed.

Step 5Add butter and beat to form a grainy paste, scraping sides of bowl as needed.

Step 6Add eggs and orange extract, and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.

Step 7Add the flour mixture and chopped chocolate.

Step 8Blend on low speed just until mixed.

Step 9Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, 1 1/2 inches apart.

Step 10Bake for 22-24 minutes until cookies are slightly brown along the edges.

Step 11Transfer cookies immediately to a cool surface.
