I remember my mom making these as I was growing up...I never could get enough of these. This is a hard to find recipe.

Ingredients
- FIG MIXTURE
- 2 pounds figs (3c) fully ripe
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice concentrate
- 1/2 cup sugar
- TOPPING / BOTTOM
- 3/4 cup butter softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups oats
- 1/4 cup coconut
How To Make oldfashioned fig bars

Step 1Preheat oven to 400* Remove stems and blossom ends, coarsely chop place in sauce pan. Add lemon juice and sugar. Stir well and cook over medium heat, stirring often till reduced to 2 cups. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 2In large bowl cream butter and brown sugar. In another bowl stir flour, baking soda, salt. Add to creamed mixture; blend well, stir in oats and coconut. Spread 1/2 Oat mixture into bottom of 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread Fig mixture on top. Top evenly with remainder of Oat mixture. Pat down lightly. Bake 20 to25 minutes until lightly brown, let cool on rack. Cut into bars.............
