I found this recipe on a bag of Publix Supermarket brand sugar. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but I plan to do so soon.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened ( 1 stick)
  • 1 - egg (large)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • OTHER ITEMS:
  • - cooking spray
  • - sugar, sprinles or candy decorations. (optional)

How To Make old-fashioned sugar cookies (publix bag of sugar)

  • Step 1
    Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing well.
  • Step 2
    Combine sugar and butter in large bowl, using an electric mixer on high speed, until well mixed.
  • Step 3
    Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  • Step 4
    Add flour mixture; mix well.
  • Step 5
    Chill 2 hours until firm.
  • Step 6
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 7
    Shape chilled dough into two (6 X 1 1/2 - inch) rolls. Cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices and place on lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle lightly with sugar or decoration, if using.
  • Step 9
    Bake 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool Completely. Makes 4 dozen.
