Ingredients
- 2 c sugar
- 1 c shortening
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten, plus milk to make 2 c.
- 1 tsp soda in 1/2 c milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 6 c flour
How To Make old fashioned soft sugar cookies

Step 1Cream together shortening, sugar, salt, nutmeg and vanilla.

Step 2Add liquid (1-1/2 c total) and stir well.

Step 3Sift flour and baking powder, add and mix well.

Step 4Roll out dough, half at a time, and cut with large cookie cutters. Top each cookie with several raisins or sprinkle with sugar.

Step 5Bake at 350* F for 10 minutes.
