I was given this recipe by a friend of mine. It comes from a organization compiled cookbook put together by a church ladies group in 1969. This one is by Elizabeth Bundy. I know it's a good one!

Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 - eggs
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda in 4 tablespoons of water
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
How To Make ol' fashioned puffy sugar cookies

Step 1Mix all together and drop from a spoon on a prepared (sprayed) cookie sheet. Flatten with the bottom of a drinking glass dampened and dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees until light brown.
