Ingredients

  • 3/4 c
    vegetable shortening
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3 c
    uncooked oats, quick cooking
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • ·
    optional (raisins, flavored chips, coconut or nuts)

How to Make Oh My... Oatmeal Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together shortning, sugars, egg, water, and vanilla until creamy. Set aside.
  2. In a seperate bowl combine oats, flour, salt, and baking soda. If your adding any other ingredient this is the time to fold it in also.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet in 3 stages. Mix well.
  4. Drop rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Cool slightly before transfering to wire racks.
