still working through bake sale cookie recipe ideas. This recipe is basically Nestle's recipe, found it on www.food.com but the instructions were not clear. We worked it out by adjusting cooking time and temp.

  • 11/4 c
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 3/4 c
  • 2 large
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 c
  • 11 1/3 oz
    butterscotch chips

How to Make Oatmeal Scotchies


  1. preheat oven to 350
  2. combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a small bowl
  3. in mixing bowl beat butter, sugar, brown sugar,eggs, and vanilla extract
  4. gradually add flour mixture to wet mixture
  5. stir in oat meal and butterscotch chips, making sure they are mixed in well or you will end up with cookies with out it at the end.
  6. line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. drop by rounded teaspoons full onto prepared baking sheet.
  8. for chewy cookies bake 6-8 minutes, for crispy cookies bake 8-10 minutes
