oatmeal raisin cookies

These are my dad's favorites cookies. He is always complaining that there are no real good oatmeal raisin cookies until I make these....it's the walnuts in them. Add walnuts and you are bound to be a hit :)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins

How To Make oatmeal raisin cookies

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  • Step 2
    Combine oats, flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Stir in walnuts and raisins.
  • Step 4
    Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375* for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks
