These are my dad's favorites cookies. He is always complaining that there are no real good oatmeal raisin cookies until I make these....it's the walnuts in them. Add walnuts and you are bound to be a hit :)

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 c
    old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c
    raisins

How to Make Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  2. Combine oats, flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  3. Stir in walnuts and raisins.
  4. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375* for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks
