oatmeal pear chocolate chip cookies

When I lived in L.A. there was a bakery who made Oatmeal Pear Chocolate Chip Muffins. Over the years I have worked to turn them into a cookie. I have finally got it right. These are my husbands favorite fall cookie.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (i use 1 tbl)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup shortening, butter flavor
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2 cups oats, quick cooking
  • 2 cups pears without skin (chopped)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup walnut pieces

How To Make oatmeal pear chocolate chip cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar. Beat in the eggs until well blended. Combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; stir into the sugar mixture until well blended. Fold in the walnuts, oats, pears and chocolate chips. Drop dough by spoonfuls about 2 inches onto ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake for 12 to 15 minutes (or until lightly browned) in the preheated oven. Let cool on wire rack
