oatmeal macaroons cookies
This is an old version of a cookie that has become very popular with young people. I've even seen some with edible gold on them. This recipe does not include the gold..ha, ha.

Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 1 2/3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 cups quick cooking oats
- 1 cup pecans, in pieces
How To Make oatmeal macaroons cookies

Step 1Mix the shortening, sugars, vanilla, and eggs thoroughly.

Step 2Sift together the flour, soda, and salt, then add to first mixture.

Step 3Fold in oats and nuts. They should be thoroughly moistened.*The mixture will be very stiff.

Step 4Form balls using a teaspoon and put on a greased cookie sheet.

Step 5Bake 10-15 minutes at 350.

Step 6*You can substitute coconut for the pecans if you wish. *You can also brush the tops with edible gold if you're having a party and want to impress your guests. LOL!
