oatmeal everything cookies
I came up with this recipe when I looked through my baking drawer and saw small amounts of different cookie "add-ins". They travel well and were a big hit when I sent them to a soldier friend in Afghanistan.

Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup coconut, flaked

Step 1Beat margarine, sugars, eggs and vanilla for 5 minutes.

Step 2Combine dry ingredients, add slowly to creamed mixture. Stir in fruits, chips and nuts.

Step 3Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Cool on racks. Makes 4 1/2 dozen.

Step 4NOTES: You can use any favorite combination of chips, dried fruit, nuts and/or coconut in these cookies, as long as the total amount adds up to 2 1/2 cups.
