This recipe comes from The Settlement Cookbook, circa 1945. Some of my favorite recipes are from there. This one is always a big hit.

yield Makes 4 dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 - eggs-beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups quick oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped raisins

How To Make oatmeal crisps

  • Step 1
    Mix flour, soda and salt. Cream butter and sugars until light. Add eggs, vanilla, oats and raisins, then flour mixture. Mix well.
  • Step 2
    Form dough into 4 rolls, about 2 1/2" across. Wrap in wax paper, chill overnight. Slice thin, place on lightly sprayed sheet. Bake at 375 about 10 min., until they just start to brown. Cool on rack.
