Ingredients

1 stick
butter, softened
1/2 c
granulated sugar
1/2 c
light brown sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
1
egg
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
salt
3/4 c
uncooked old fashioned whole grain oats (not quick cooking!)
1 c
all purpose flour

How to Make Oatmeal cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream together butter and sugars
  • 2Add vanilla and egg and stir until blended
  • 3Add baking powder, baking soda, and salt and stir until blended
  • 4Add oats and stir until blended
  • 5Add flour and stir until thoroughly mixed
  • 6Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease cookie sheet
  • 7Roll dough into balls about the size of a walnut that is still in the shell - smaller size will be a smaller cookie
  • 8Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart
  • 9Lightly grease a flat bottomed glass
  • 10Dip glass in sugar then gently press the dough; do this step twice for each dough ball
  • 11Bake on greased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 12Store tightly covered for up to 2 weeks
