Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup uncooked old fashioned whole grain oats (not quick cooking!)
  • 1 cup all purpose flour

How To Make oatmeal cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream together butter and sugars
  • Step 2
    Add vanilla and egg and stir until blended
  • Step 3
    Add baking powder, baking soda, and salt and stir until blended
  • Step 4
    Add oats and stir until blended
  • Step 5
    Add flour and stir until thoroughly mixed
  • Step 6
    Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease cookie sheet
  • Step 7
    Roll dough into balls about the size of a walnut that is still in the shell - smaller size will be a smaller cookie
  • Step 8
    Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart
  • Step 9
    Lightly grease a flat bottomed glass
  • Step 10
    Dip glass in sugar then gently press the dough; do this step twice for each dough ball
  • Step 11
    Bake on greased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

    Store tightly covered for up to 2 weeks
