Ingredients

1 c
flour
1 c
quick cooking oats
3/4 c
brown sugar
3/4 c
butter, softened
1
capful vanilla
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
cinnamon
1 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c
nuts, chopped (optional)
3/4 c
caramel ice cream topping
3 Tbsp
flour (to mix with caramel topping)

How to Make Oatmeal Carmelita Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1Soften butter in microwave, then add capful of vanilla. Stir and set aside.
  • 2Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add butter to this and mix to form a crumb mixture. Divide in 1/2.
  • 3Press 1/2 mixture in bottom of 8" x 8" pan.
    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • 4Remove from oven and layer the chocolate chips, then the nuts, and pour the caramel/flour mix on top.
  • 5Take the other 1/2 of the flour, oat, sugar mix and crumble it over the top.
  • 6Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.
    Remove and let cool.
  • 7Place in refrigerator to completely cool, before cutting.
  • 8Store in air tight container in refrigerator for best results.
