Who doesn't like oatmeal, chocolate, and caramel together? Chewy good these are!

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    quick cooking oats
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 3/4 c
    butter, softened
  • 1
    capful vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c
    nuts, chopped (optional)
  • 3/4 c
    caramel ice cream topping
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour (to mix with caramel topping)

How to Make Oatmeal Carmelita Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. Soften butter in microwave, then add capful of vanilla. Stir and set aside.
  2. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add butter to this and mix to form a crumb mixture. Divide in 1/2.
  3. Press 1/2 mixture in bottom of 8" x 8" pan.
    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and layer the chocolate chips, then the nuts, and pour the caramel/flour mix on top.
  5. Take the other 1/2 of the flour, oat, sugar mix and crumble it over the top.
  6. Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.
    Remove and let cool.
  7. Place in refrigerator to completely cool, before cutting.
  8. Store in air tight container in refrigerator for best results.
