I like these cookies because they are rolled in a mocha cinnamon sugar mixture. However, if you are not a fan of coffee you can just omit it and use regular cinnamon sugar instead.

plus 6 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
5 Tbsp
butter or margarine
1 c
brown sugar, packed
1 tsp
squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/4 c
granulated sugar
1/2 tsp
to 1 tsp instant coffee (optional)

How to Make New Mexican Chocolate Crinkles


  • 1Combine flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, beat the brown sugar and butter together until creamy. Beat in the eggs and blend.
  • 2Add vanilla and chocolate. Mix evenly. Gradually add the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture. Form into a soft dough.
  • 3Chill until the dough can be handled. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in remaining sugar, cinnamon, and coffee.
  • 4Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool cookies for a minute on sheet before transferring to a rack to cool.
