This is a family favorite that my mother used to do for Christmas. They look like fruitcake cookies but no fruitcake to this to die for recipe. A hint of bourbon and then some is used! We used to laugh at my mother because the preacher loved these cookies and always asked for her to make them. She never told him that they had bourbon in them. These are drop cookies and you can keep them in the refrigerator for weeks and use them when needed...especially if the preacher visits!!!

How To Make my mother's all time christmas cookies

  • Step 1
Cream butter, sugar and add eggs. Blend well. Sift spices, flour and add to butter. Add syrup, bourbon, fruit and pecans. Do not flour the fruit. Mix this up and refrigerate overnight. Drop spoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees until brown.
  • Step 2
This is great to give as gifts or just to keep in the refrigerator and use when unexpected guests come over. I take these to various functions and always get a lot of praises! My kids love these after Christmas. We just bake them and have with coffee or hot chocolate.
