Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup sour cream or plain yogurt, either one works
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

How To Make my favorite oatmeal raisin cookies

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly grease baking sheet(s)
  • Step 2
In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder and cinnamon
  • Step 3
Cut in the butter until mixture is evenly distributed
  • Step 4
In a food processor, blender, or with a chopper, chop the raisins
  • Step 5
In a separate bowl, stir together sour cream and egg. In another bowl, mix molasses and baking soda. Stir into the sour cream mixture. Add chopped raisins and stir
  • Step 6
Add sour cream/molasses mixture to the flour mixture, and stir into a stiff batter
  • Step 7
Chill in the freezer for about 15 minutes, until easier to handle
  • Step 8
Shape into walnut-sized balls. This can be easier if your hands are slightly wet
  • Step 9
Place two inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten cookies with the back of a spoon
  • Step 10
Bake for about 15 minutes until a rich golden brown. Cookies may look done after about 10 minutes, but they are better if cooked 3 to 5 minutes longer
