How to Make My Favorite Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly grease baking sheet(s)
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder and cinnamon
  3. Cut in the butter until mixture is evenly distributed
  4. In a food processor, blender, or with a chopper, chop the raisins
  5. In a separate bowl, stir together sour cream and egg. In another bowl, mix molasses and baking soda. Stir into the sour cream mixture. Add chopped raisins and stir
  6. Add sour cream/molasses mixture to the flour mixture, and stir into a stiff batter
  7. Chill in the freezer for about 15 minutes, until easier to handle
  8. Shape into walnut-sized balls. This can be easier if your hands are slightly wet
  9. Place two inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten cookies with the back of a spoon
  10. Bake for about 15 minutes until a rich golden brown. Cookies may look done after about 10 minutes, but they are better if cooked 3 to 5 minutes longer
