Okay...maybe they're not famous...but don't tell my child care kids that. lol
This is one of those recipes I have no idea where it originated, but I've had it 20+ yrs and I've tweaked it so many times, I think I can officially call it mine. :)

1/2 c
shortening, i use butter flavor crisco
1/2 c
butter, softened
1 c
peanut butter, i use creamy jif
1 c
1 c
brown sugar, i use dark
2 tsp
3 c
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
1/2 c
raw sugar, for rolling in, if desired
1 - 11 oz
pkg milk chocolate chips, or dark or white

How to Make My Famous Peanut Butter Cookies


  • 1Preheat oven to 375.
  • 2Cream together shortening, butter, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Blend in flour, soda and salt. Stir in chips if desired.
  • 3Roll 1 1/2" balls and roll in raw sugar. (regular sugar can be used) Place on cookie sheet, using a something, whether a fork, potato masher, spatula etc press design into cookie. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Remove from pan and onto wire racks for cooling.
  • 4*In photo you can see I drizzled melted white chocolate over the cookie. They do not need the chocolate, its just a fun detail.
