my delicious fruitcake cookies
I found this recipe in a very old publication. I did not have all the ingredients called for, so I improvised and it turned out very pretty and tasted really good! As I am not a fan of fruitcake I was surprised how good these cookies turned out.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups chopped, pitted dates
- 1-1/2 cup extra-fancy fruitcake fruit mix, chopped
- 1-1/2 cup coarsley chopped walnuts, toasted

Step 1Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, mix well. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.

Step 2Fold in fruits and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.

Step 3Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool in wire racks.
