Ingredients

granulated sugar
1 c
powdered sugar
1 c
butter, softened
2 large
eggs
1 c
olive oil
2 tsp
vanilla extract (or other flavor if desired)
5 c
all purpose flour (not self-rising)
1 tsp
cream of tartar
1/4 tsp
salt
1 tsp
baking soda

How to Make MOTHER'S SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE (BY SALLYE)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream sugars and butter in large mixing bowl until light and fluffy

    Add eggs one at a time continuing to cream

    Blend in oil and vanilla with wooden spoon
  • 2Sift all dry ingredients together

    Add dry ingredients to butter and cream mixture gradually while mixing well with wooden spoon
  • 3Preheat oven to 350º

    Line cookie sheet with parchment paper

    Roll dough into 1-2" balls, place on cookie sheet far enough apart so they won't touch each other then flatten with bottom of glass

    Cook in 350º oven for 10 minutes or until slightly brown on edges.
