These are from my friend Denise Thompson, who got the recipe from Pike Place Market, a Seattle restaurant. They are almost a meal in themselves, and I like to think they're "healthy!"

  • 1 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    sugar (splenda can replace this.)
  • 3
  • 1 tsp
    maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    peanut butter (i used creamy.)
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c
  • 4 1/2 c
    oats, quick cooking

How to Make Monster Cookies


  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Mix all ingredients.
  3. With oiled hands, press balls of dough into patties and place on a greased cookie sheet.
  4. Cook for 15 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes before moving to wire racks.
  6. Allow to completely cool on wire racks to avoid breakage.
