My mom made these all the time when I was a kid and I love them! =)

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3 c
    oats
  • 1 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2 c
    nuts (of our choice or you can leave out)
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda

How to Make Mom's Oatmeal Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Beat together first 6 ingredients (shortening, brown sugar, sugar, egg, water, and vanilla).
  3. Then combine remaining ingredients (oats, flour, nuts, salt, baking soda). Mix until combined evenly.
  4. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto un-greased cookie sheet and bake for about 12 min.
