mom's no-bake cookies
This is my mom's recipe, although I'm sure many people have this as a family recipe. My mom made these for me and my brothers all the time when we were kids. We usually add a little extra peanut butter to ours (we LOVE PB).

Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 - 4 tablespoons peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 3 cups oats, quick cooking
How To Make mom's no-bake cookies
-
Step 1In small bowl, combine oats and cocoa powder (this keeps the cocoa powder from clumping), set aside.
-
Step 2In large saucepan, combine butter, milk, and sugar. Cook over medium to medium high heat until boiling. Boil 1 minute, and remove from heat.
-
Step 3Add vanilla extract and peanut butter, stir until smooth, and peanut butter is completely melted.
-
Step 4Add the oats and cocoa powder mixture, stir until combined.
-
Step 5Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper to cool. You can also pour mixture into a buttered 8 X 8 square pan to cool if you prefer bar cookies.
