Makes 8 dozen
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups crisco (i use butter-flavored)
- 1/2 cup full-flavored or original molasses
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 cups flour
- 2 - eggs, slightly beaten
- 4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
- 4 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 1 teaspoon salt
How To Make molasses sugar cookies

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt shortening and let cool. Stir in mosasses and eggs. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Dough is VERY stiff and won't want to cling together. Chill. Form into small 1 1/2" balls; roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheet. Do NOT FLATTEN them.

Step 2Bake 10 - 14 minutes. Edges will be browned and the centers will be soft.

Step 3The dough freezes well. When thawed, roll into balls as above and bake according to directions.
