These cookies are a staple of my holiday cookies but are great anytime of the year!

Ingredients For molasses crinkles

  • 3/4 c
    shortening or butter, softened
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    molasses
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tsp
    ginger, ground

How To Make molasses crinkles

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Mix together shortening/butter, brown sugar, egg and molasses.

    Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Add sifted ingredients to wet ingredients, mix thoroughly.

    Chill dough, approximately 30 minutes. Roll scoops of dough into balls the size of walnuts.

    Dip tops into sugar and place sugar side up, 3 inches apart, on sprayed cookie sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2-3 drops of water.

    Bake 9 minutes, just until set but not hard. Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.
