These cookies are a staple of my holiday cookies but are great anytime of the year!

Ingredients For molasses crinkles

3/4 cshortening or butter, softened

1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1egg
-
1/4 cmolasses
-
2 1/4 cflour
-
2 tspbaking soda
-
1/4 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspcloves, ground
-
1 tspcinnamon, ground
-
1 tspginger, ground
How To Make molasses crinkles

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Mix together shortening/butter, brown sugar, egg and molasses.

3Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Add sifted ingredients to wet ingredients, mix thoroughly.

4Chill dough, approximately 30 minutes. Roll scoops of dough into balls the size of walnuts.

5Dip tops into sugar and place sugar side up, 3 inches apart, on sprayed cookie sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2-3 drops of water.

6Bake 9 minutes, just until set but not hard. Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.
