Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ginger
How To Make molasses crinkles

Step 1Thoroughly mix first 4 ingredients. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into wet ingredients. Chill dough.

Step 2Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 3Roll dough into balls the size of large walnuts. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Place sugared side up, 3" apart, on greased or parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2-3 drops of water to produce a crackled surface. Bake 10-12 minutes, just until set but not hard.
