- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 - egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ginger
How To Make molasses crinkles
-
Step 1Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Chill for about 1 hr.
-
Step 2Roll into balls about the size of a large walnut. Dip tops in sugar and place sugar side up on greased cookie sheets abot 2" apart.
-
Step 3Dip tip of finger in a small cup of water and touch the top of each cookie to wet the sugar (that's what makes the crackle effect when baked.)
-
Step 4Bake at 375* for 10-12 minutes. Cool for a few minutes and remove to cooling rack. Makes 4 dozen.
