Lolita Slafter

This was a favorite cookie growing up and still is.

These are a great addition to any holiday cookie platter for fall and winter.

If you love molasses flavor, you'll go crazy for these and they're totally addictive. Yummmmm!!! :)

How to Make Molasses Crinkles

  1. Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses thoroughly.

Combine dry ingredients and add to first mixture.

    Chill for about 1 hr.
  2. Roll into balls about the size of a large walnut.

Dip tops in sugar and place sugar side up on greased cookie sheets abot 2" apart.
  3. Dip tip of finger in a small cup of water and touch the top of each cookie to wet the sugar (that's what makes the crackle effect when baked.)
  4. Bake at 375* for 10-12 minutes. Cool for a few minutes and remove to cooling rack. Makes 4 dozen.
