- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup mild-flavored molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup coarse sugar
How To Make molasses crinkles
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 375F. In a large bowl beat shortening with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, salt and cloves. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in egg and molasses until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Using a wooden spoon, stir in any remaining flour. If necessary, cover and chill dough for 30 to 60 minutes or until easy to handle.
-
Step 2Place coarse sugar in a bowl. Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls. Roll balls in coarse sugar to coat.
-
Step 3Place balls about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or until edges are set and tops are crackled. Transfer cookies to a wire rack; cool. Makes 30 cookies
