These cookies are winners. My daughter entered these cookies in the Van Zandt County Fair in 1987 and won Best of Fair-Youth Division she was 8 years old, that same year she got her cookies published in the Country Accent magazine. Thenin 1993 she entered these cookies in the State Fair of Texas in Dallas and won 1st.place in the Junior section of the cookie division.

Ingredients
- - 3/4 cup shortening, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup molasses, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 cups flour, 2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. cloves, 1/2 tsp. ginger, 1 tsp. cinnamon
How To Make molasses cookies

Step 1melt shortening over low heat, remove from heat and let cool. then add sugar, molasses and egg, beat well. sift flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, salt and add to first mixture. mix well then chill. form into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. bake 7 minutes at 350* oven
