Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/3 c
    molasses (i prefer dark but you can use light)
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 7/8 c
    flour (sift before measuring)

How to Make Molasses Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease an 8x8 pan
  2. put softened butter into medium bowl and beat until very soft
  3. sift powdered sugar and add gradually to butter. Beat until light and creamy
  4. beat in 1 egg, molasses, salt and baking soda.
  5. add sifted flour in 3 parts to butter mixture beating well after each addition
  6. stir in vanilla until well incorporated
  7. pour into pan and bake for 15 minutes
  8. cut into bars before it is completely cooled.
  9. roll in powdered sugar until welll coated
