Don't know the reason for this odd name on this cookie, but for whatever reason they are as special as that name! I got this recipe years ago from a hostess on QVC! It is a delicious cookie, and they disappear quickly!

- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons warm water
- 3 large eggs, well baten
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup dry oatmeal
- 1 cup dates, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 2-1/2 cup flour

Step 1Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Step 2Dissolve the baking soda in warm water, and then combine with all the ingredients.

Step 3Drop by teaspoonfuls onto parchment lined baking sheets. Bake about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
