maraschino cherry nut cookies

This has always been a holiday favorite but it is good anytime. It is a good cookie to put in holiday baskets.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup reserved cherry juice
  • 3 cups oats, quick cooking, uncooked
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped
  • 1 jar 12-oz. maraschino cherries, drain & reserve juice, chop cherries

How To Make maraschino cherry nut cookies

  • Step 1
    Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets Bake 8 to 10 minutes Watch first batch closely, don't over bake. Makes 9 dozen
  • Step 2
    Sift flour, salt and soda, set aside.
  • Step 3
    In large bowl cream butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and cherry juice. Mix well. Add dry ingredient, small amounts at a time, mixing well. Stir in oats, cherries and pecans. Note: If mixture seems to stiff you can add a little more cherry juice.
  • Step 4
    Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Watch first batch closely, don't over bake. Makes 9 dozen.
