maple walnut cookies
These are wonderful cookies with lots of maple flavor. They remind me of Fall!

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup butter flavored crisco
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon maple extract
- 1 - egg
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
- 30 to 40 - walnut halves
How To Make maple walnut cookies

Step 1Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2Place brown sugar, shortening, maple syrup, vanilla, and maple extract in large bowl; Beat at medium speed of mixer until well blended. Add egg; beat well.

Step 3Combine flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Add to shortening mixture; beat at low speed just until blended. Stir in chopped walnuts.

Step 4Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto parchment paper on sheet. Press walnut half into center of each cookie.

Step 5Bake one cookie sheet at a time at 350 for 8-10 minutes for chewy cookies, or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. Do not overbake. Cool cookies completely. Makes 3 dozen
