Ingredients
- 2-1/4 cup flour
- 6 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 8 ounces (16 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
- FILLING
- 4 ounces (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- pinch salt
- 3 cups chopped pecans
How To Make maple pecan bars

Step 1Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat to 350 degrees. Line a 9 X 13 inch baking dish with foil or parchment paper. A Pyrex dish is recomended.

Step 2Place the flour, brown sugar and salt in a medium bowl and whisk. Add the melted butter and vanilla and using a fork, stir until it forms a thick dough. Transfer th,e mixture to the prepared baking dish and press evenly into the bottom.

Step 3Transfer the dish to the freezer for 10 minutes (or the refrigerator for 30 minutes) to allow the dough to firm up. Bake 18 to 20 minutes. Let the crust cool for 20 to 30 minutes befkre adding the filling.

Step 4FILLING: Place the butter, brown sugar and maple syrup in a medium saucepan over medium heat until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and whisk in heavy cream, vanilla and salt. Fold in pecans.

Step 5Pour the mixture over the crust and spread the pecans evenly. Bake until the mixture is hot and bubbly around the edges, 18 to 20 minutes.

Step 6Remove from oven and allow to cool and set overnight. Cut into squares. Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
