My grandmother always had these cookies in her cookie jar. She cooked in the school lunch room in our community and these were soooo good. When I was a young girl there wasn't as many restriction about what you cooked, they used the items that the goverment gave them.

Ingredients

1 cup shortenting
2 cups sugar
1 cup peanut butter (i use creamy)
2 - eggs
2 teaspoons water
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour

How To Make mamo's peanut butter cookies

Step 1

Mix all ingredients together, starting with the top down ending with flour. Mix well.

Step 2

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray cookie sheet.
Step 3

Use a teaspoon of dough and make into a ball. Flatten out with palm of hand and lay on cookie sheet. Take a fork and make the imprint on the top of each cookie.
Step 4

Bake about 7-10 minutes for each sheet, ovens all vary in temp. Remove to rack to cool, soooooo good.
