Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ice water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make mamaw's old time teacakes

Step 1Cream together the egg, sugar, and butter.

Step 2Add flour, baking soda, ice water and vanilla and mix well.

Step 3Divide into 2 portions, roll out and cut with a cookie cutter.

Step 4Bake at 350 until very lightly browned. For crispy cookies, roll thinly. For softer cookies, make them a little thicker. Store in a well-sealed container. Warning: these will go quickly, so you better make 2 batches!
