Ingredients

  • 1 large
    egg
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    ice water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Mamaw's Old Time Teacakes

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream together the egg, sugar, and butter.
  2. Add flour, baking soda, ice water and vanilla and mix well.
  3. Divide into 2 portions, roll out and cut with a cookie cutter.
  4. Bake at 350 until very lightly browned. For crispy cookies, roll thinly. For softer cookies, make them a little thicker. Store in a well-sealed container. Warning: these will go quickly, so you better make 2 batches!
