This was the recipe that Mom shared with Aunt Shirley, who gave it to me after Mom passed away.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 - eggs, divided
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large bag pecans, chopped
How To Make madeleine's thumb print cookies, 2

Step 1Mix butter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Roll dough into small balls and dip into slightly beaten egg whites. Roll into pecans, bake 1" apart on cookie sheets at 375 degrees for 5 min. Make thumb print and bake an additional 8 minutes. Cool and ice.
