Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup sugar for rolling cookie dough balls in

How To Make lynda's christmas ginger snaps

  • Step 1
in a mixing bowl place 1/2 the flour. Add the brown sugar, shortening, molasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. beat with mixer on medium until all ingredients combined. beat in remaining flour. I refridgerate about 30 min to chill down batter. Then I roll into balls the size of ping pong balls and then roll into granulated sugar and put on cookie sheet. I then flatten each ball with a flat bottom glass which has been coated with pam. then I sprinke with sugar before baking. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes.
  • Step 2
these can be frosted with melted white chocolate for a christmas look and topped with colored candy sprinkles...they are very pretty....
