Lemon Fire Cookies (cayenne powder hot)
These are definately adult cookies. They have a real kick and you need to warn people if you take them to a party or gathering. Be sure kids know they are HOT and not just sugary.
I had heard of peppery cookies and altered a Spritz cookie recipe to come up with these.
- 2 stick
- butter, softened
- 1/2 c
- 1 Tbsp
- lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp
- grated lemon peel
- 2 1/4 c
- 1 tsp
- cayenne powder
- 1/4 tsp
- 1/4 tsp
- baking powder
- red decorating sugar
How to Make Lemon Fire Cookies (cayenne powder hot)
- 1Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the lemon juice, lemon peel, and egg and beat well.
Sift the dry ingredients together. Beat into the butter mixture. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour to make it easier to handle.
- 2Place the mixture into a cookie press, and force the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with red sugar to your liking. Bake for 8 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.
