This was passed on to me by my mother-in-law who always had great recipes to share. My daughter, her husband, my spouse would all help to make this. It is a long process, but well worth the effort. That is providing you can resist eating as you work : )

How to Make Kruschiki (bowties)

Step-by-Step

  1. beat egg yolk lightly;add remaining ingredients and mix
  2. remove dough to floured board, knead adding just enough flour from sticking
  3. roll out VERY THIN as you would for noodles,
  4. In utensil you will be frying in add lard or Crisco or a combination. Personally, I prefer using the lard.
  5. cut in thin strips about 2" wide 6" long. slit center strip, pull corner thru- deep fry til light brown 375 degrees
  6. drain on paper, after cool sprinkle with xxxx sugar
