Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 5 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- sesame seeds
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon anise
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg for topping

How To Make koulourakia "greek twists"

Step 1Melt Butter and beat until smooth. Add eggs (one at a time) beating after each addition. Combine milk to sugar and stir until dissolved. Add butter to mixture and keep beating.

Step 2Blend baking powder with 1 cup flour and add to butter mixture. Add cinnamon, vanilla and anise and beat slightly. Gradually add mixture to remaining flour, knead it by hand until a stiff dough is formed. Shape as desired; place on a greased cookie sheet; brush tops with an additional beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees until golden brown ( 10 to 15 minutes)

Step 3I make a small ball and then roll it out until I get a stick about 3/8" in dia and 6" long. Makes 6 to 8 dozen depending on thickness. "MAKE AN ONX"
