kentucky's chewy chocolate cookies
KENTUCKY: Munch your way across the USA. Judy Dahman, the state of KY is now represented. This recipe is from "Capitol Cookies", with recipes from every state & Washington, DC. This recipe was submitted by Capital City Christian Church, Frankfort, KY, Lelia Todd, Chairperson. NOTE: This is a very stiff batter so I added in 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk and they turned out great! Very good, chewy and chocolatey.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 medium eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour, unsifted
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons milk (may take 4)
- 1 cup nuts, finely chopped (optional)
How To Make kentucky's chewy chocolate cookies

Step 1Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl. Add in eggs, milk and vanilla and blend well.

Step 2Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Blend into creamed mixture; add more milk if needed. Stir in nuts.

Step 3Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for approximately 8-9 minutes. Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft. They will puff during baking and flatten upon cooling.

Step 4Cool on cookie sheet until set, about one minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
