KANSAS: Munch your way across the USA. Teresa Jacobson, the state of Kansas is now represented. This recipe is from "Capitol Cookies" with recipes from every state & Washington, DC. This recipe was submitted by Midland Hospice Care Adult Day Activity Center, Topeka, KS, Mary Ann Teske, Chairperson.

I personally have not made these cookies so, Teresa, if you make them, let us know if they make the state of Kansas proud.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

1 1/2 c
granulated sugar
1/2 c
butter, softened
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 c
shortening (like crisco)
1 tsp
salt
2 tsp
cream of tartar
2
eggs
2 3/4 c
all purpose flour

TOPPING:

2 Tbsp
granulated sugar
2 Tbsp
cinnamon

How to Make Kansas Snickerdoodles

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 400. Spray or grease cookie sheets. Cream together the first eight (8) ingredients.
    Gradually add in the flour and combine well. Form into walnut-size balls.
  • 2Combine well the two (2) topping ingredients. Roll each ball in the sugar cinnamon topping. Place onto greased cookie sheets about 2" apart and bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
