I learned to make this in a middle school home-ec class. The teacher called them "Captain Crunch Cookies" because when strawberry Jello is used they taste somewhat similar to Crunch Berries. These cookies taste better if you let them cool completely!

  • 3/4 c
    shortening
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 large
    eggs
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 pkg
    (3 oz) fruit flavored jello
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 2 3/4 c
    all purpose flour

How to Make Jello Waffle Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream together the shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, salt, jello, baking powder and flour. Mix well until a soft dough forms. Roll into balls and place on a hot, greased, waffle iron. Close lid and bake for approximately 2 minutes. Times will vary with waffle makers. These cook faster than normal breakfast waffles.
