Ingredients For italian "s" cookies

  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon extract
  • GLAZE
  • 1 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    lemon extract
  • 3 - 4 Tbsp
    milk

How To Make italian "s" cookies

  • Beating butter and sugar until fluffy.

    Combine softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Adding eggs one at a time.

    Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each egg.
  • Adding lemon extract to the batter.

    Add lemon extract.
  • Adding flour to the batter.

    Combine flour and baking powder. Add to butter mixture and mix well.
  • Rolling dough into an S shape.

    Pinch about a 1 inch of dough and between your hands roll dough into a 3-inch log. Shape into an S.
  • Baking cookies in the oven.

    Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
  • Dipping baked cookies into the glaze.

    Make a simple glaze with powdered sugar, lemon extract and milk. Dip top of cookies in glaze and let dry on rack.
