italian butter cookies
My daughter loves to make different shapes with these and sprinkle with powdered sugar! They have a great butter flavor and you can mix and match what you would like to top them with! From my own personal family recipie

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup crisco shortening
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 - eggs, beaten
- 3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
How To Make italian butter cookies

Step 1Preheat oven to 350*. In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening, butter & and sugar. Add the eggs & vanilla then blend in the flour, baking powder & salt. Chill dough 2 hours.

Step 2Roll dough out on a floured surface, cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until they are a light golden brown. Transfer to cooling racks.

Step 3Optional Decorating: Before baking sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles. Garnish centers with maraschino cherry halves or plain M & M's, pipe icing designs or sprinkle with powdered sugar after cooled.
