I found this cookie recipe in my Betty Crockers Cooky Book. I found the title of the cookie to be interesting and different from other cookies I have made. They are very soft and have a slight nutmeg taste.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • - yellow and green food coloring
  • - raisins or nuts

How To Make indian jumanas

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 375F. Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. stir in sour cream. Blend dry ingredients; stir into butter mixture. Divide dough in 2 portions; color half yellow and half green. Drop by heaping teaspoons onto a greased baking sheet. Press raisin or nut meat into the center of each cooky. Bake 10 min. or until lightly browned.
