I found this cookie recipe in my Betty Crockers Cooky Book. I found the title of the cookie to be interesting and different from other cookies I have made. They are very soft and have a slight nutmeg taste.

butter or margarine
1 c
sugar

1 tsp
vanilla
1/2 c
sour cream
2 3/4 c
sifted flour
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
nutmeg
yellow and green food coloring
raisins or nuts

How to Make Indian Jumanas

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven to 375F. Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. stir in sour cream. Blend dry ingredients; stir into butter mixture. Divide dough in 2 portions; color half yellow and half green. Drop by heaping teaspoons onto a greased baking sheet. Press raisin or nut meat into the center of each cooky. Bake 10 min. or until lightly browned.
